Videodrome

I recommend letting the files load fully before playing them...

This is my video:

This is how my video (and any video I've uploaded since the end of October 07) looks when I try to play it on Buzznet:

Filmed from my monitor and served from my domain, so there's no additional compression. This is almost exactly what it looks/sounds like. (Mac OS 10.4+, Netscape, Firefox & Safari all do this)

Who's a "#1 fan"?

Buzznet may not have Myspace's numbers (which isn't a bad thing), but it's still HUGE. In our communities, we see many examples of people who love and support bands, photographers, hobbies, anime, comicbooks... even Internet celebrities. From following their favorite band on tour for weeks on end, making fan sites, writing journals, posting their original concert photos and fan art, or photos of their band merch and postered walls, blogging about events, seeing every movie an actor has made, or even tattooing their idols names and logos on their bodies...

Who do you know on Buzznet who is a "#1" fan of something?

Edit: Please read the comments before suggesting someone whose #1 fandom is expressed by having several hundred photos on their Buzznet profile that don't belong to them that they downloaded off other people's websites without their permission. Just so I don't have to pick splinters out of my forehead from repeatedly slamming it into my desk... thanks.

Who are you calling a c**t?!? Part II

See "Who are you calling a c**t?!?" Part I, here...

Thus continues the freight train to hell and gone our younger generation has climbed aboard...

I don't know if I'm more disturbed over someone who appears to be far younger than my kids flinging around THE most objectional foul mouthed sexist curse available in the English language... or that a WOMAN then congratulates him on putting her down.

For the record, all the girl said was:

Can we just have it that people get smacked by Buzznet for flinging that word around as an insult the same way they do everytime Mark see's someone calling people the F-word I won't even mention? Because I'm pretty mortally offended seeing ANYONE called that, for ANY reason, ANYWHERE.

And for the record... I'm not a fan of Jeffree Star's legs, either. Big whupping deal.

I AM TOO DISGUSTED TO THINK OF A TITLE!!!!!

I am having trouble forming coherent sentences to express exactly how disgusted and flat out pissed off I AM TO FIND MY 16 YEAR OLD CHILDREN'S PROFILES DISPLAYING ON "TILA TEQUILA'S HOT SPOT".

No, they are no longer private profiles. However, they are no longer private profiles ON BUZZNET, which is (or at least, was) not a site set up SPECIFICALLY to extole the nearly-naked goodies of a pin-up model and all associated skanky, trashy, trampy, semi-pornographic media and the creepy perverted assholes that it unfortunately attracts.

Last time I checked, we signed up as members of BUZZNET. Finding my media displaying on someone else's websites (FOE and THS) is upsetting enough, as I'm not here to promote them or supplement their commercial endeavors (promoting themselves, basically) with my shit.... but other than a few "accidental" photos that slipped out, PETE WENTZ DOESN'T DO PORN.

(note...please DON'T tell me if I'm mistaken on that... just don't...)

I have absolutely nothing against scantily clad women or photos thereof. I have absolutely nothing against pin-up models. I have absolutely nothing against them having websites promoting themselves. I mean, several hundred thousand people (at least) have seen me (painted) numerous times in nothing much more than a thong and a housecat. BUT THEY DIDN'T PRINT MY KIDS PHOTOS, PROFILES AND MEANS TO CONTACT THEM PERSONALLY underneath it.

Fay is not pleased about this either... I can hear her typing madly in the other room. Go read her blog (she's a much better writer), unless she's turned her profile private again.

If you weren't aware of this... here's an example: My Buzznet profile as displayed on Tila's Hot Spot

The concert trip that wasn't...

As much as I go through to photo a show, it's especially sad when I have a photo pass and end up stranded and not even reaching the venue (which counting this is only 1 1/2 times)...

I hate Greyhound...
I hate Riverside County transit...

I love the HorrorPops, and hopefully they'll fit in some more SoCal shows this Spring...

I will be offering several pieces of original art for purchase in the immediate future (becausethe deadbeat flaked on paying child support again, my landlady is unhappy, and I don't want to be evicted or be living without utilities like water, electricity etc)... so if you like to collect original art or have been looking for a special gift for someone, please check back here...

Yes, there will be some AFI-related works

Please Welcome The Dear & Departed to Buzznet!

Please Welcome The Dear & Departed to Buzznet!

The Dear & Departed - Photo Hosted at Buzznet

from Wikipedia...

"The Dear & Departed (also known as D&D or DaD) have started at a pace most bands would never finish. In their short existence they have built a following. They have shared stages with AFI and Avenged Sevenfold in America and overseas. The debut album "Something Quite Peculiar" was released on 22nd May 2007.

Chris Vrenna, drummer/programmer for Nine Inch Nails, whose production resume includes U2, Smashing Pumpkins, Killing Joke , Marilyn Manson and Gnarls Barkley, has produced the band's debut album, with additional production from AFI's Jade Puget.

Dan Under, Joel Bourne and Simon O'Gorman have done a lot together since moving to America from Australia and New Zealand. They have slept anywhere they could find a place for the night and had various record deals come to nothing.

There has been well publicised interest in the band from successful bands like AFI, who invited Dan Under to sing on "Decemberunderground"

Backed by label "Record Collection", and with new members Darren Parkinson and David Williams firmly in place, The Dear & Departed's are now poised to bring their darkly romantic artistic vision into the mainstream."

It was like Rancid dining with the Osmonds...

Tim- writing/demos Unknown Studios, UT. Photo by Rancid

Message from Rancid  on their Myspace ...

In late 2007 we all spent a few weeks together writing in Utah at Unknown Studios. The chemistry has been incredible and this record has come together very organically. All of the songs were written with us all 4 together in the same room. We hung out at Brandens house and when it wasn't snowing we would play soccer, skate the ramp, and work on our UK Photobook. Sometimes we'd just sit back and watch a Johnny Cash or Social Distortion dvd. We enjoyed having an environment where we could just relax and write with no pressure or distractions. Some days the snow would come down so much that it created a real feeling of solitude, bringing us together. Each night when we'd go out to eat at the local restaurants it was interesting to have us all together out in such a conservative community. It was like Rancid dining with the Osmonds, that was pretty much how it felt.

In early Jan 2008 we started recording the 7th Rancid record with producer Brett Gurewitz (who has produced 4 previous Rancid records). It's coming along great and we're deep into it at this point still currently tracking. With an expected release in June 2008, we are working hard and very proud of what we've done so far. We will post more info, videos and photos from our writing and recording sessions soon!

I Am Legend

I wonder if this one will post... it'll be pretty short

I had the opportunity to watch "I Am Legend" the recent film starring Will Smith twice through last night and am about to run it again (bless the person who got a press copy on CDR that somehow appeared in my kid's hands yesterday, and the fact that my surround sound system plays CDRs).

I am so happy we saw this at home... because out usual mode of walking 2 miles home from the theater at night after a showing would never have worked after watching this film. I don't care if they were "real" zombies of hudrophobic viral mutents... and I don't know how they looked on a big screen... but on a 27" monitor at the foot of my bed, they creeeped me the heck out. I think Fay was on the floor making high pitched skreeing noises while Yashi ended up by the headboard somewhere. 2/3 of the room cried at least twice, possibly3x. (neither kid had ever read the book or seen Omega Man or The Last Man on Earth and didn't know the basic story... mainly, everyone wondered when the dog would die, because everyone knew that was a heart wrenching loss just waiting to happen)

Did I mention the infected mutant survivor things creeped us out?

Or that everyone here has to sleep conveniently located next to large glass windows... and that probably no one actually slept before the sun came up? (I still haven't... work work work. ha)

In a nutshell, I thought it was great. I think some of the rants I've read about it were perhaps exagerrated. No, it wasn't the book (when is it ever the book? LoTR wasn't even the book), no, it wasn't perfect. No, it didn't have Charlton Heston. Yes, the weird faith thing thrown in was a jarring change of direction but they also made that work by not dwelling on it (note: weird plot developments can be smoothed over by immediate brutal onslaught of zombie hoard) and by leading  him to the click that finally made it fit (at least for them all).Yes, they threw some pretty blatant "we are bitchslapping your emotions with senseless loss" moments, but they worked, and really.... if you're going to start out by killing 90% of humanity and have 90% of that remaining EAT the rest of the survivors, it's not going to be happy happy joy joy walk in the park, okay? Will Smith did damn sight better dissolution of a man alone in 15 minutes of film than Tom Hanks did in however long I suffered through Castaway, and seeing New York empty of human life (I've stood outside of where his house was situated, which was actually pretty creepy at night with the normal human beings in it) and moreover without any of the SOUND I knew was normally there, was chilling. (for the record, I hated New York before the plane even circled for landing, I was creeped out, so throwing mutant creatures or giant unexplained rampaging creatures (yes, I got to actually see Cloverfield!) just amplifies a heightned base level of creeping me outedness.

I mentioned how the infected mutants creeped me out, right?

I swear that boss-mutant guy would have had a mohawk and doc martens (if they actually still had hair.) I'm kind of disappointed there weren't any tattoos. Maybe their CGI budget drew the line at that much detail...

Viva Hate
Psychobilly? Hard Rock? Punk? The sound of Viva Hate could be described as all (or none) of the above. Drawing on influences such as American country music, 70s arena rock, early-80s skate punk and death rock, modern psychobilly, and more, Viva Hate has come to rise above the trends of cookie-cutter pop and retro rehash. By distilling the ingredients of their influences, rather than watering them down, Viva Hate are prepared to carve out their own niche in the ever-growing musical underground.
