If you could ask Barack Obama one question...

Any question.

Anything at all.

...what would it be?

Nekromantix drummer killed in car crash

Andy Demize (aka Andrew Martinez), 25 year old drummer for punk rock./psychobilly band's Nekromantix and The Rocketz,  died early Sunday morning, January 11, in a crash that killed one other in the vehicle and left the driver and remaining passenger in critical condition.

The OC Register reported:

"The vehicle was traveling southbound on the 57 freeway when the driver lost control, went over an embankment and hit a tree. The car burst into flames, igniting a grove of eucalyptus trees. The driver and another passenger either were ejected or fled the scene, officials said.

Firefighters responded to reports of a fire in eucalyptus trees at 4:40 a.m. and found the car with the two dead occupants at the base of the trees along a strawberry field, Dominguez said.
The driver later called 911 from a nearby strawberry field seeking medical attention, according to CHP Sgt. Paul Pines, who was investigating the accident at the scene. The driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI; the driver and the surviving passenger, who also was arrested, were taken to UCI Medical Center. Dominguez said they were listed in critical condition.

According to Pines, the vehicle was so badly twisted and shredded it was barely recognizable as a vintage Chevy Nova.

"I've never seen a car like this," he said. "As for the condition of the car and people in it, pretty bad.""

Kim Nekroman wrote this tribute to Andy on the bands Myspace blog Sunday evening,

" Andy!

I am very sad to announce that our Great beloved friend and Drummer Andrew Martinez AKA Andy DeMize AKA Mr. Pink AKA Little Guy, past away early this morning Sunday January 11, 2009 as a result of a terrible car accident in Fullerton, Orange County California. My thoughts and Condolences go out to his Family and Everybody that knew Andrew. There is no words to describe the shock...... Andrew was probably the most loveable guy I ever met and truely the only person I've met in my life that was loved and liked by everybody met. It's just typical Andrew to pull off this "rockstar death" way too early. I have no idea how Newcastle Beer will be able to continue to stay in business and I encourage everybody that knew Andrew, was a fan of his work with his bands, to drink one, two or many Newcastles in his honor. I can just hear him from where ever he is now, say: "I've done worse".................All I can reply to that Andy is:"Dude it's gonna be hard to top this one Little Guy". Kim Nekroman

The Rocketz posted this announcement on their webpage:

"It is with the greatest anguish and deepest regret that I am posting this bulletin. Tragically, we lost Andy in a car accident this morning.

Andy touched many people, his heart was golden, his reputation as a truly nice guy was understated...he was always quick to offer a hand or a beer.

He was more than just the backbone of The Rocketz..he was the bond that kept everyone together, he was like a son to me.

He made everyone laugh, if you knew him well, then go ahead, I dare you not to think of something that makes you laugh when you think of Poop.

He was well of love and friendship and the little fucker could beat on a drum kit like nobody's business.

Please put Andy in your prayers if you pray, I certainly will. We love you, Andy, I hope there's plenty of Newcastle on ice wherever you may be!

We will post am address for Flowers and will respect The Martinez Family's privacy, we will post services information if and when appropriate

Andrew Martinez

From Slashdot... Amtrak Photo Contestant Arrested By Amtrak Police

"Photographer Duane Kerzic was standing on the public platform in New York's Penn Station, taking pictures of trains in hopes of winning the annual photo contest that Amtrak had been running since 2003. Amtrak police arrested him for refusing to delete the photos when asked, though they later charged him with trespassing."
